Wedding Pictures Finally Posted

January 7, 2009 4:22 pm - By: Jamie
It has been almost seven months now that we have been married. Our wedding was absolutely amazing and few by just like everyone said it would. When I got the professional wedding pictures back I made a comment to Chris, "ahh...Chris, we did actually get married!"

Right after our wedding we enjoyed a Father's Day breakfast with the many fathers in our life and then we headed out to get on our cruise ship. Our honeymoon was great and full of many enjoyable memories. We can't wait for the next time we get to go on another cruise.

Face Lift

January 27, 2008 9:15 pm - By: Chris
So... I swear I am going to start posting to the website more often. In the meantime, I have started a major face lift for the site in preparation for the wedding. It is not quite done but this will be the general look. For those who have tried to post comments, that is fixed as well. Well, I am off to clean the house. Have a good night!

Busy Busy Busy

January 6, 2008 6:17 pm - By: Jamie
Busy, busy, busy...when someone asks Chris how we have been this is how he responds. Oh and how true it is. Since the last time I updated our website a lot has happened. One of the biggest accomplishments has been buying our very own house. Back in October, during the Southern California wildfires, Lakeside was closed for the day. Christopher and I took advantage of the day off and started to do some investigating about home loans. We were surprised to find out that we were qualified for more than we had originally intended. The day after talking with a loan consultant, Ray, a family friend and real-estate agent showed us a few houses. I fell in love with one of the first houses that he showed us, a cozy three bedroom one story house with beautiful landscaping in a great neighborhood. We were both excited but still had a couple of other houses to look at. The next house we looked at was right around the corner from the one I fell in love with. The listing for this house seemed almost surreal. A 2,250 square foot house for 300,000. We expected something to be wrong with the house. We were surprised when we discovered that the house was in great condition but just needed a little bit of work: carpet cleaning, paint, some scrubbing. Read more...

And the fun is about to begin

August 11, 2007 7:50 pm - By: Jamie
Christopher and I just got back from a staff get together. We both met a lot of fun people. I am getting really excited about my new teaching position. Everyone I talk to says great things about the science department. I will be teaching four Biology classes and one environmental science class. As one of my fellow environmental science teachers would put it the title of environmental science is a lie; the course is really Earth Science. I do not have much background in Earth Science. Basically I know what my dad has taught me and what I picked up in elementary school. So teaching Environmental Science is going to be educational experience for both the students and me. Catching up

June 27, 2006 11:48 pm - By: Jamie
A lot has happened since our last post. Chris came down and stayed with me in La Jolla while I finished up the school year at UCSD; Q-300 Reunion; Felicia and Nicholas graduated from high school; I graduated from UCSD; Marc and Danielle's Wedding; Rilee was born; and I started grad school.

I am really glad Chris was able to come down to UCSD and spend a few weeks with me. He was really a big help to me while I finished up with things at UCSD. He helped me pack, organize my end of the year building event, helped me with the end of the year RA video, brought me food when I was studying for finals. It was just a good feeling all together to know that Chris was there when I needed him. Also Chris was a big help with the RA reunion that we had towards the end of the year. It was great watching Chris interact with Isa, my boss' daughter. I will post some pictures of him being "arrested" by Isa and one of her friends.

Unofficially In

April 25, 2006 1:33 pm - By: Jamie
Yesterday I talked to one of my professors about my application to the TEP Masters program. She informed me that things were not offical but all she had to do was write a letter to the UCSD Graduate Office and not to worry. I asked her if that meant I should start planning to be in the Masters Program. She said that I should. YEAH, all those months of waiting. She now I know where I am going to be next year, but there are many other things to figure out: financial aid, housing for next year, preparing for summer school. In some ways it is even more scary now that I know. It is reasuring to know that Chris and my family will be there to support and help me figure everthing out; it will all come together. I AM GOING TO HAVE MY MASTERS IN LESS THAN 15 MONTHES.

So… It has been a while since either Jamie or I have posted. It has been extremely busy for the both of us. Jamie has been busy with tutoring, classes and upcoming midterms. I have been busy as well as the semester is getting in full swing. I work lots too, but it is relaxing to go to work and do what I love. Right now I just finished rearranging my room and getting all prepped for my upcoming trip to so cal. I am super excited to be heading to so cal. I cant wait to see Jamie. We plan to go see the “Vagina Monologues” while I am down. After that we plan to help some friends move into their new place.

Christmas Break

January 7, 2006 11:41 pm - By: Jamie
Now we are finally back in La Jolla. It has been a long Christmas break. Chris has one more week before he is heading back to Fresno. Classes start up on Monday for me. Today we rearranged my room and I am getting everything in order for next quarter. The web-site is something I wanted to accomplish before starting classes. We would have updated as events happened over the break but there is a problem with Comcast and getting to the internet while we are in Lake Elsionre

Lots of pictures were taken during the break. There are pictures from the KGB Christmas Party, Christmas Tree Lane, Decorating the Gingerbread house, the boys pictures at the park, McCain kids pictures at the park, and the trip to Lancaster.

Skiing at Snow Summit

January 5, 2006 2:17 am - By: Jamie
Today Heidi took Christopher, Nicholas and me skiing at Snow Summit. I was apprehensive about the trip because I have only had one other skiing experience. Let’s just say the people I went with did not realize that they were taking me to a black diamond slope when we got on the lift. I tried my best and attempted to ski that day. I realized that I was not a bad skier, I just could not stop to save my life. After many failed attempts and some hard falls I spend the rest of that day sliding down the hill on my butt. Finals are over and Christmas is officially here!

December 10, 2005 11:06 am - By: Jamie
Once again I got through finals. The week of finals always seems so overwhelming. When you actually get though the week it does not seem so bad. Wednesday night as I was studying for my last final Christopher decided to drive to La Jolla. I only got about two hours of sleep that night because I was up until 3:30am studying and then got up again at 5:30am to study some more. Around 10am that morning I completed my final. It was Felicia’s birthday; the plan was to head home and to celebrate her birthday with dinner and cake. After celebrating Felicia’s birthday the family went out and found a Christmas tree. Although it was 10pm by the time we got home mom and I started to decorate the tree with lights. Christopher joined in with the decorating when the lights were on the tree. As you will see in the pictures dad enjoyed his siesta with Austin and Ryan enjoyed watching TV. Right now I am back up in Fresno. Christopher and I drove back last night. He still has finals this week. After Christopher’s finals we are going to head back to Lake Elsinore to enjoy the rest of the Holiday season with the rest of our family.

Professional Christmas Pictures

December 5, 2005 5:11 pm - By: Jamie
While in Fresno for Veteran's Day Christopher and I took profession Christmas Pictures. The last time we took professional pictures together was two years ago shortly after we started dating in November. Chris picked up the pictures the other day and scanned them, which mean you all get a sneak peak. You can also look back to the pictures from two years ago and see how we have changed in the past two years.

Can Finals Be Over Please?

December 1, 2005 11:05 pm - By: Jamie
Once again it is finals week. You would think after going through this nine times before that I would be used to it already. I guess not, I still get stressed and feel like I don't have enough time to get all the studying done. In the next day I have to write a 9 page paper, then I need to focus on studying for my three biology finals. Finals week came fast this year because there was only a week between Thanksgiving and finals. Read more...

Crazy Week

November 19, 2005 8:00 pm - By: Chris
Can I just say this has been an insane week? I have done sooo much this week it is not even funny. Classes have been ok, but I am ready to be done with them and move on to the next phase of my academic career. It amazes me how often a professor either takes a simple thing and drones on for days, or takes something that in plain English isn’t too bad and turns it into the most confusing thing ever (Yes, I know, look who’s talking). But seriously some people really should be professors… it is a waste of everyone’s time and money.

The Site

November 19, 2005 7:37 pm - By: Chris
So as I sit here at work I find myself reflecting on the site and what it has become in such a short time. It has been incredible to get comments from people and have them enjoy seeing the website. I have always avoided the idea of creating a website mainly because I had nothing that I felt was worth my time and effort to put up. After a little convincing Jamie finally got me to put in the time and put up the site. The growth and the fact that people actually are looking at it and getting some enjoyment from it is great. I have added my side of the About Us page with Jamie’s soon to follow. Now comes the question, what do others want to see here? Is there something that I can add that will make it a better site?

Fresno Trip

November 16, 2005 2:34 pm - By: Jamie
This quarter is quickly coming to an end. Last week I finally finished up with my last mid-term. After completing my mid-terms I headed up to Fresno to spend the weekend with my love. I got to Fresno late on Thursday night. Early Friday morning Chris and I went to Yosemite. I have always wanted to go to Yosemite but have never had the opportunity. It really is a beautiful and relaxing place. Chris bought a year pass to all the National Parks, so we are going to visit a few other National Parks and also Yosemite later in the winter when there is snow. Read more...

Yosemite

November 15, 2005 10:47 pm - By: Chris
Yosemite was a blast! I haven’t decided what made it better, the fact that Jamie was there or the fact that it was, well, Yosemite. A big thanks goes out to Mike Garvey, a co-worker, who encouraged me to make the adventure up to Yosemite. Let me just say wow. It was so much fun to get up there and, gasp, without technology. For those of you familiar with Yosemite we went the 41 and into the park stopping at Bridlevail Falls. We then continued on deeper into Yosemite Valley. Read more...

The Wedding

October 31, 2005 2:12 pm - By: Chris
Let me just say the wedding was amazing. It is great to see Karie and Dad married. There were a few minor complications with the minister who, in my opinion, did not belong doing weddings. His inabillity to get Karie's name right even after being told like three times was discusting. Other than that the ceremony went well. Grandpa was hilarious, he added a little bit of humor that just made it more enjoyable. Read more...

CBEST

October 31, 2005 2:04 pm - By: Jamie
It is official! I passed the CBEST. Now I can register with some school districts and start substituting. Now it is all a matter of getting into UCSD’s master teacher education program and I will have my Masters in Education 18 months after I graduate with my Bachelors in Biology. The thought of subbing is an interesting one. When I was younger I used to not be able to sleep the night before the first day of school. I have the feeling that I will not be able to sleep the night before the first day I sub.

Disneyland 10-21-05

October 24, 2005 12:06 pm - By: Jamie
Disneyland was lots of fun! Chris and I felt like we were taking our kids to Disneyland for the first time. There was so much that we wanted to show Mom and Dad that we have experienced that they have not had the opportunity to see yet. The day was perfect, we got there pretty much just as the park opened and the weather was not too hot or too cold. Also the lines were just right, we did not have to wait more than 25 minutes to go on any of the rides. In the end mom and dad enjoyed themselves so much that they ended up buying season passes. Now we are all going back again Wednesday for Dad's Birthday. Be sure to check out the pictures from our trip!

Also Craig and Karie's Wedding is fast approaching: next weekend!

Growth from being a RA

October 14, 2005 6:56 pm - By: Jamie
I love the challenges that being a RA brings. I look at each challenge my residents bring to be as an opportunity to grow. It is very character building to deal with issues that come along with being an RA. Some of the things that I am faced with are truly preparing me to be a better high school counselor. One of the biggest challenges I am currently facing is how to be a person’s friend while also being an authoritative figure. In addition I am struggling with the challenge of being everyone’s friend without upsetting someone else. In order to be trusted by individuals it takes being many different people. As a RA some residents expect me to be one way and others expect me to be something else. It is easy to be those people, but not all of them at the same time. Read more...
